Port of Centralia Approves Sale of Property for Mental Health Evaluation Treatment Center

Chronicle, The (Centralia, WA) - 7/23/2016

July 20--Centralia will now have a 22 bed mental health evaluation treatment center after Port of Centralia commissioners approved the sale of property to Cascade Mental Health Care at its Wednesday meeting.

The real estate purchase in the amount of $403,365.60 was for an undeveloped site known as Lot 20 located near the Port of Centralia office.

The lot will house the mental health evaluation treatment center, a 23,000 square foot facility.

Construction is likely to take place in 2017.

"It's a quiet use, creating a good number of very well-paying jobs," Port Executive Director Port Kyle Heaton said. "It's a nice addition to the business park and a buffer between residential usage and the port."

The center is estimated to be a $9 million facility, Heaton said.

Officials from Cascade Mental Health Care did not return calls for comment before deadline.

Along with the sale agreement, commissioners also approved the concept site plan, which adheres to the port's master plan. The port will issue a SEPA determination sometime in the near future, Heaton said.

In other business, port commissioners approved the renewal of a lease with CenturyLink, a telecommunications service provider, for another five year terms. The properties for the lease renewal include 1714 and 1718 Midway Court.

A letter of intent to sublease the CCP Composites building, located at 3712 N. Park Drive to Zev Technologies was also approved. According to its website, Zev Technologies offers performance Glock barrels, triggers, slides and more.
